Miles and Miles of cheese
Previously I’ve reported back on Airtran Wendy’s Cup miles, and what a profit center that turned out to be for me, mainly because the Wendy’s deal limited an individual to 2 free round trip tickets. I sold thousands of other certificates from the cups on eBay and Craigslist.
American Airlines has a new miles offer, that is seemingly unlimited. For every Emmi wedge or fondue cheese purchase you make with the offer logo, you get 500 free airline miles. Participating grocery stores include Albertsons, Super Target, CostCo, Trader Joe’s, and many more.
The wedge runs anywhere from $2.69 to $4. The fondue averages $6-$9. Many charities and food banks are accepting these left over cheese wheels if you open them at the bank, thus giving a tax break on the countless wheels of cheese you certainly are unable to eat.
This works out to a great deal with the wedge at under 1 cent per mile. I am going to make the rounds to the local grocery stores sometime very soon and purchase as many as I possibly can. I think 100,000 miles would be a good starting point. That is only 200 units (around $600). AA has free flights starting at 25,000 miles, so $600 would buy you 4 flights. From previous experience, I’ve never been able to find 4 flights at $150 each.

Seems like an awful lot of work for free airline tickets. But, OK.

Check into the current issues on this one. Lawsuit brewing - Emmi changed terms late in the game after many of us bought hundreds of cheese wheels. They claim to be out of miles.

“Udderly” ridiculous way to handle a promo! they promised miles on untold thousands of packages and haven’t fulfilled mile one from what I have seen. Their largest competitor seems to be get this “Laughing Cow!”
Emmi, you really should be ashamed of yourself.
