Guys, I know you know comps are based on a giveback of a tiny fraction of what the casino expects to take from you. Your actual expected loss -- to the casino -- is much much larger on slots than in poker, where all the casino gets is a piece of the pot, through the rake ... (which at Hard Rock is suspiciously 'calculated' at a stunning rate, sometimes I think the official rate is "Grab some chips and shove them down the hole") ...

To get a decent comp playing poker, at the $2 tables, you'd have to set up a cot and live at the poker table.

Even in Vegas, with much higher limits, poker players get very little, often a "casino rate" room (discounted price, not free) ...

But remember, a comp is just you getting back a tiny piece of the money you lost to the casino. In the end, playing poker, you keep more of your money, to spend on yourself. You're comping yourself.

cheers, chase

"I wish they did that for poker players."

Me too. I spend a lot of time at Derby Lane. Might switch if decent comps were involved.

She plays the slots and poker a lot. The comp was b/c of her slots play. She says she gets 2 night stays and 2 free meals once a month there.

Great story. I love HardRock, especially since they made the poker room non smoking. Are they comping meals now for frequent poker players, or is it just for slot players?
