Hey, don't forget to file for unemployment. If you're "laid off" rather than fired for cause, you can slam dunk an unemployment claim ... maybe just collect that while you pack and prepare ... Hey, you pay unemployment insurance tax, this is what it's for.

Enjoy reading your blog. Sorry you were laid off. I have been out of work for 6 months so I know how you feel. Good luck with the potential move to cali.

I have a suggestion for you: Minneapolis. Now, the winter weather is something to contend with (you won't be able to live in the car) but it is a major, major metropolis with many, many suburbs and another major city (St. Paul) right next door. I am sure that you could find a good tech-related job in the Minneapolis/St.Paul area. Plus, you would be much closer to Dawn and Drew (although, I personally would see this as a fault). Minneapolis is a great area to "start fresh". Great nightlife, lots to do (Mall O' America, decent summer amusement park (ValleyFair) decent driving distance to many major cities) and probably the best point I can think of...cost of living is going to be alot better for you in Minny than in San Fran. Plus, you'd be less than 3 hours away from the little hamlet I call home...lovely Duluth.

Just my 2 cents.
