Worst Weekend ever

Friday - Last Monday started off with me losing my wallet, and the week didn’t seem to get any better.

On Friday I go to Storman’s Palace for a free poker tournament. Typically there are 3-5 games and the first game, after being busted out, I went to play pool in the back room with one of the dealers. There was no one else back there, and a private party of about 40 people upstairs.

I took off my $300 Prada sunglasses and put them on a table while playing pool. After we finished the game we walked back over to the poker game. 5 minutes pass and I remember my glasses….and guess what…THEY ARE GONE.

I walk upstairs thru the private party to see if someone there is showing them off…no luck. Management didn’t like me being up there either. I looked around every table and every inch of the back room…they were gone.

Saturday - I head to the movies in the afternoon. Before I go, I stop to fill up with gas. I see The Prestige, a film I was highly anticipating, but didn’t turn out to be all that great in the end.

After the movie I decide to get a bite to eat at the Applebees in the parking lot of the theater. I reach in my pocket for the $100 bill I had gotten earlier that day, and it was gone. I fly back to the theatre and get an attendent to go back in with a flashlight to check around my seat. The next showing had already started so we could only look under the feet of the people sitting there.

It was in the darkest part of theater so if they swept up during the intermission of the two showings, they might not of seen it.

So there goes another $100 down the tubes.

Total losses for the week are around $600. It wouldn’t be so bad to of spent $600 and had something to show for it, but this is down right thru theft and misplacement.

I hate my life.

Weekend trip to Wisconsin - Saturday

Well last weekend I took off on Saturday for Milwaukee, Wisconsin to head to where Dawn and Drew live for a meetup there at the Milwaukee Zoo.

My plane ticket was upgraded to first class the entire trip which was nice. I had to fly from Tampa to Atlanta to Wisconsin. Atlanta has to be the worst airport to fly thru, simply because your connection is never on the same level that you arrive on.

 Welcome to Milwaukee

After making it to the hotel (which was across the street from the airport so I walked) the grossly overweight woman at the front desk made it abundantly clear that if there was “anything” I needed to make sure to call her and she would “accommodate” me. YIKES!

She called up about a half hour later to my room just to double check that everything was okay and that I didn’t need anything, strange.

Nasty hair at hotel

There was this nasty hair in my bathroom, yuck. Also what is with this beer opener in the bathroom of the hotel?

Bathroom beer opener?

Walking around town with Mike and Brandi Talmadge from ThoughtOut.biz there we saw a Miller Time Bar and the NRA was in town for the weekend as well. Hotels were difficult to find because of this.

We met up with Dawn and Drew for dinner at a unique resturaunt called Prime Quarter. You pick out your own cut of steak and cook it yourself.

 Unique cooking experience

Everyone’s meal ended out tasting great, with the exception of burnt texas toast.

Before we left, Mike gave dawn an special one of a kind Ped2.

Afterwards we went bowling for a few hours and had a blast. Played a total of three games and just hung out.

After that Dawn and Drew had never been to Coldstone Creamery so I treated them to a late night ice cream. Everyone went to bed for an early morning wakeup the next day for the big event. Sunday’s events to follow….

Weekend Wrap-up

BTW this is the 2nd time I am writing this, I guess Dreamhost had an outage for about an hour.

Friday - I didn’t have but a half hour between jobs, so it was right to Starbucks after my day job. I closed the store and got out around 11:30pm. Afterwards I went to Winghouse to play some golf video game, then to WhatABurger with a coworker. Didn’t get home till about 3am. LONG day!

Saturday - I didn’t wake up till about noon, and had to work at 1:30pm. I needed to go to iMall to pickup a final gift for my mom. Obviously, I didn’t wake up early enough to go before work.

I got off work at 6pm and headed over to iMall and bought the gift. I was walking around the mall and headed into Kenneth Cole. I had remembered getting an email about 15% off any item, but didn’t have it with me.

I had been wanting a watch from there, but they only had the one with a black face, I wanted the white face. Well they had the white one in stock. I was talking with the staff there who was very friendly. They said that it was okay I didn’t have the email with me.

They run me up and gave me the discount. About an hour later I got this email:

Nick,

It was great to meet you this evening. I know you’ll love your watch. If I can be of assistance in the future, please call on me.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Now that is what I call customer service. I will certainly be doing more business in there in the future. The only other time I can think that I got a post-purchase reply was from Tumi and Versace.

I just was arriving home when I saw my roomie heading out. We talked for a few minutes and I found out he was going to friend’s art show. We both headed over there. Afterwards we walked around downtown St. Pete with his family and stopped in Cafe Bohemia for some drinks.

On the way to the art show he tells me that he broke up with his fiancee who he has been going out with for the past year and a half.

Sunday - I had to open at Starbucks so that means getting there at 6:15am, YUCK! It was mother’s day so I dropped off my mom’s gifts at her house on my way to Sbux while everyone was asleep.

It was VERY busy at Sbux and there was only 1 other person there with me until 10am. The time was dragging, yet we made it thru the day.

After work I hung out at my parents place, then went home, went to the bank (yes my bank is open indoors on Sundays), got something to eat, hung out at Starbucks, and went home again.

The evening was spent catching up on tv shows, including Glenn Beck’s new show on CNN Headline News.
